2010 Members’ Spring Art Show & Sale

eligibility: All artists must be a current member of BVAA. Entries must have been completed within the past two years and not previously exhibited in a BVAA show.

entries: a total of three works will be allowed. All artwork must be dry, wired and ready to hang. Maximum size is 48" (outside measurement). Larger pieces may be accepted but artists are required to bring an easel for display. Pedestals for 3-d works are required and must be provided by the artist. Student art work doesn’t have to be framed but must be matted.

registration: all work must be pre-registered. No work will be accepted unless it has been pre-registered. Absolutely no substitutions allowed. Registration must be post-marked no later than May3rd and must include one set of entry sheets and a check for the applicable frees. fees: A $5.00 free per entry for members and students are required for entry. Membership is required for all artists at a cost of $25 individual and $10 student.

originality: works for exhibition must be original (no reproductions). Original artwork involving print making, collage, or computer art are acceptable as long as they are identified as such.

drop-off/pickup: please bring your entries to the Gallery at Art Creations, 12 Rosenfeld Dr., Hopedale, MA on Wednesday, May 12th. Pickup of entries is after the close of the show at 4pm on Sunday, June 13th or on Monday, June 14th. Anything sold may not be removed before the end of the show but can be picked up at this time as well. The only exception is bin art which can be removed at time of purchase.

judging: All entries will be judged and ribbons will be awarded in each category for First, Second and Third place. Categories will be determined by the number of entries in a given medium and must contain at least 5 or more pieces. BVAA Board reserves the right to redistribute the categories to meet the five piece minimum.

bin art: bins will be available for unframed, matted and shrink-wrapped original artwork, prints and cards to be displayed on tables at the show by BVAA members. Please label all art work and items individually with artist’s name, title, and price. You will also need to supply an inventory list of all your bin art which will be used for accounting purposes. Bin art is displayed at the artist’ risk. Space may be limited and will be displayed with exhibition information at the BVAA board’s discretion.

sales: works and bin art included in the show may be for sale. If you do not wish to sell your work please mark NFS under price on your entry forms. A 35% commission on all works sold at the show will be taken. Twenty percent will be designated for Art Creations, and 15% will be for the BVAA. Please take this into acount when determining your pricing.

support: The BVAA Spring Art Show, Fall Show and other events are funded in part by grants through the Massachusetts Cultural Council and the local cultural councils of the Blackstone Valley as well as businesses such as Art Creations, and individuals. The BVAA display panels were made possible with a grant from the Greater Worcester Community Foundation.

liability: BVAA and Art Creations Inc. will exercise due care in handling all submitted works, but can’t be held responsible for damage or loss.

2010 BVAA "The Art of Taste – A Showcase of Delectable Delights"

Recognizing that art surrounds us and takes many shapes, (and wanting to present area restaurants, caterers, bakeries, and cooks with an opportunity to have their "art" appreciated by potential customers), we're inviting aficionados to enter the BVAA's 1st Annual "Art of Taste" showcase/competition.   Winners will be judged by popular vote and presented with an award that they can display in their restaurant or place of business. If you're interested in entering, email info@bvaa.org with your business name, contact, phone, and culinary specialty.

eligibility: All businesses must be located within the Blackstone Valley.

categories: Hors d'oeurvres, cakes, confections, wine & cheeses, soups, salads, entrees. Dates for each category to be announced, but will be within the period of our show.

registration: You must be pre-registered.

Very exciting time for us. A new show venue, and what may be a new long-term home, plus wonderful exhibit/sales/teaching opportunites for our members.

Special Event

Friday evening from 6pm-8pm, fine artist John Kilroy will present a portrait demo. A lucky winner will have his/her portrait painted that evening by John. All proceeds ($1 tickets) will be added to a scholarship fund. Wine tasting and light refreshments will be served.

2:00 Demo: Muriel Funka will be doing mini presentation/demos on different facets of Fiber Arts (free)
